Not sure but I think alot of people have posted that the quality of the ocktava mics vary widely from guitar center.

Its not that some are bad ones but as a pair for stereo recording the sound could differ somewhat. and thats for the mc012s.

I got one. I looked it up and it supposedly retails at $600, but musicians friend had them for $300. I figured even at that, for $99 you can't go wrong.

Can you post the link? I can't seem to find it. The 219 is $99, but the 319 lists at $199. Am I missing something?

Nah...I've heard some 319's that sound great, but then the one right next to it that sounds like wax paper on a comb.
Same goes for the 219. I have a buddy who has a 219 that I borrowed that was incredible sounding. So I went down to GC to get one and couldn't find another that sounded even close.

Well I finally got a chance to test drive mine, and it sounds much better than a SM58. It is similar to my C-1's but not quite as hot and a little darker in tone. Not a bad investment for $99. I won't use it for my voice but I can see it will be useful to have around.

Quite a bit of handling noise (due to the fact that I didn't mount it). But it sounds pretty good. Not quite as detailed as the NTK, but better than a SM58... a little dark sounding, but useable. Wouldn't be my first choice on vocals, but might work for something like a solo instrument.
