Hi, guys.
My monitors failed on me and are in the repair shop. I want to continue my mixes on new songs using headphones only ...its gonna be a hard task but if you guys could help me once again on which frequencies I need to cut/boost I think I can get closer to a good mix until my monitors get back. Here's the song for a review "Fortress NJ". Thanks in advance for any input...Hope I'm not too annoying:(

Go to the manufacture's website and find the spec sheet for them. It will show you exactly what frequencies are boosted or cut.

Alright, I can't give you any specifics on freqencies and I mix on headphones too (reference headphones though) but I've just not got the experience to tell you specifics on frequencies.

Just wanted to comment that I quite like the song.

The guitars at the start and when the rhythm comes in at about 30s is all quite dark, but not in a bad/muddy way - quite like it actually, but then a lot of my stuff is dark.

The lead that comes in just before 1:10 sounds a little bit in a different space and the timing of the playing seems slightly off, maybe its supposed to be a bit loose, which is fine.

The drums that come in at 2:10 seem like their in a really different place to the drums earlier in the song.
The lead singer singing "Fortress" seems to hang on something that's a little bit grating? Is that an Autotune artifact? It also seems to do something a bit weird at 2:37. I couldn't tell you where EQ wise but someone will.

At around 2:50, there's something odd going on with the lead lines and the two vocal lines - its not bad as such, just a bit weird and confusing, is there some slide guitar in there? It might be the slide being slightly out of tune so its creating a chorus/phasey effect.

Nola, I think he just wants help with his mix 'cos he doesn't have his monitors available.

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought he was asking how to know what to cut/boost on his headphones.

Yes Nola, I was referring to if my mix lacks of some specific frequencies since I dont have monitors to actually pinpoint it. Mixing on headphones will not lemme know if my low end is too much or else.

HI JDOD, thanks for all the input!! I also just noticed that strange thing on the chorus at 2:50 and 2:37. There is no slide guitar there. I believe thats due to the CLA vocals effects plug-in on a settings called HELP that I used over there. On my next mix I will replace that effect with a simply stock multi-delay repeating the words "Fortress" and "Thoughtless". Maybe it will sound nicer...
