Okay guys, I'm finally breaking down, and plan to use my computer to mix-down. . Especially, since I have this fairly adequate computer sitting around collecting dust. . . I'm just tired of trying to bid on a standalone cd player on Ebay,..with all these crazy people bidding up these 15 year old units, way up, past there actual value, jeez! "what up wit dat". . But unfortunately, the problem is that I'm totally illiterate when it comes to using the computer to mix down. . .

So, I can use some advise on a soundcard, . .and some editing software. I am mixing down from a 4 Track Tascam 424 mkII, and its used mostly for demos.

Right now, I have the standard 1/8" stereo plug soundcard that came with the computer, and I would like to upgrade my soundcard to something with at least (2) separate L & R Channels for mixing-- 4 INPUTS would be nice! But, 2 is adequate-- Do I need something like the 'MAudio Audiophile 2496', or is there something else out there that will work better? I don't need anything expensive,. just something to do the job, I want to keep this as SIMPLE as possible. . .

Also, I can use a recommendation for some mixing software programs. I know there is a lot of software, and free ware out there ,.But, I'm looking for as SIMPLE as possible .. . .Did I mention that I would like to keep it SIMPLE, .. LOL Anyway guys, if you can help me out here, I would certainly appreciate it. . . .

If you crosspost this in a lot of different forums, it's gonna make it harder to get the answers you're looking for. Check your first post.

Thanks Rat, . . for your input!

However, it seems as if some of your post must have been cut off, . . or that you didn't post properly, . cause I missed the part of your post that included all your good ideas, that might have helped me with my little dilemma . . . ? So, if you can re-post on what hardware, or software you think might work best for my situation, . .that would be great! Thanks again Rat.

Insipid sarcasm won't get you your answer much faster or better than simple crossposting.

It's people like you who come to this board with a chip on their shoulder and are unwilling to take constructive criticism that make this less pleasant than it should be.

What Track Rat posted was as gentle and constructive as you deserved, yet you responded as if he had said 'DON'T CROSSPOST AGAIN!' --- which is probably exactly what you needed to see to get the message.

Hey scientist. . .

Thanks for your post , . .But, unfortunately I didn't get your helpful advise either . .It must be getting cut-off too. . . You guys should really try and post properly, .especially since you make the effort, taking so much time out your busy life, especially on Thanksgiving Day to post on this forum, and help people out. . . I do appreciate that.

You have a great Thanksgiving though, . . . Ray
