Mixing through an interface...?

I don't understand how you can plug your headphones into an interface that is connected to a computer and listen to the computer's output through the interface, and mix this way. Same with monitors. Does it actually work this way? Or am I mistaken?

The headphone out on my Firepod lets me monitor the preamps, but I can't play back what I've recorded in Logic.

What is the deal here? I'm aware this question is a little bit retarded, but I'm on my last straw and want to know how it works.

You probably dont have something set up right, but yes thats the way it works....

In your case you need to see how to send the output of Logic to the Firepod's main outs.

I figured it out. Just had a knob down, and didn't have the option of using the Firepod's output selected.

This makes things nicer....
