Mixing 333 and 400MHz RAM

I currently got a stick of this in my comp:

KVR333X64C25/512
512MB 333MHz DDR PC2700 DIMM CL2.5
Standard 64M X 64 Non-ECC 333MHz 184-pin Unbuffered DIMMSDRAM-DDR, 2.5V, CL2.5, Gold

Will that stick be compatible with this stick?:

KVR400X64C3A/512
512MB 400MHz DDR PC3200 DIMM 3-3-3
Standard 64M X 64 Non-ECC 400MHz 184-pin Unbuffered DIMMSDRAM-DDR, 2.6V, CL3, Gold

They are both compatible with my intel 865GLC motherboard (800 FSB). The computer was purchased new with the 333MHz ram installed. Is it worthwhile to get the faster stick, or does having them both installed somehow make the 400MHz slower? Are the differences between 333 and 400 MHz RAM really appreciable with audio applications? And finnally, both of the above mentioned units are "kingston value" ram. Is there any difference between that an "samsung" ram?

Thanks,

T

You could run them both together but you would have to set the ram speed and timings for the slowest stick which is 333 MHz.

Thanks for the reply ocnor.

Damn, the search function is down.....
In general, can one use two modules of ram (400mhz/512 sticks) by different manufactures without problem (e.g. Samsung and Kingston value)?

I don't think that would be a problem. You just need to find timings that both sticks agree with.
