JDK...You are welkom !!!jdk303 said:Thanks for the review! I'm glad you like the guitars. My main concern with a mix is whether the drums will be punchy enough, especially the snare and kick. I hate when the kick gets lost in a rock/metal song, so I tried my best with this mix to get the kick in there.
I left the fret noises of the bass out, because they were interfering with the groove of the song.
Anyway, thanks again!![]()
I know this is over, but thought I would give your mix another listen. You may not want any kind of critic on it now. If not, just tell me to go a make a samich or something.johnsuitcase said:I just came across this thread about 2 hours ago, so I downloaded the tracks and did a quick mix. If I spent a few more hours, I think it would be radio-ready!
Cool song, love the ending!

Hey John...it is a cool song. So cool, it is hard to remember to pay attention to the mix, rather than the musicanship and the awesome lyrics. I have to listen several times to get the whole of someone's mix. I listened to yours when you posted, but since it was over, I assumed I shouldn't post anything about it. Anyway, I decided to....
You did not happen to tweak on this mix since you posted did you?, because the axes did not seem to eat up the other stuff as they seem to do tonight with this listen.I remember I was going to post that the main tweak would be to crank up the vox and maybe the drums just a tad.
Intro is strong. The axes sound excellent.
The Vox is immediate before the music. I basically like the low to loud, but that is a preference thing.
The guitars are the strength of your mix, but they tend to bury the vocals in most places and the drums too.
I do however love the panning and how you didn't take away from their powerful place in the song.
I liked the treatment of the vocals too. The delay you used was different.
The bass is steady and seems to fit good. The volume sounds right.
Once again...I think the guitars are the strength of the mix...just overpowering to the rest of it.
Kudos![]()
