yeah i noticed, the lighter snare rates get pretty ringy when compressed compared to the harder hits. again i try to solve all my problems with MORE COMPRESSION!!! haha

not my normal philosophy but i only had a couple hours to do it! and i had to learn Reaper in the process. ;)

Nice strong intro. The overall volume of the song is rather loud and that is a good thing.

The vox is excellent. I love the effects. They fit the eerie feeling set in the tune by the bass and axes. What did you do to get the effects?

The axes are just a bit overbearing and eating a lot of the drums up in my humble opinion.

The bass gets buried quite a bit too, until around 3:31.

It isn't that I think it is a bad mix. I just feel like I am listening to the tune through the guitars, rather than having them adorning the sides and/or slicing the middle of the tune. I found myself straining to hear the drums, cymbals.

Maybe my ears just need a good Q-tipping...or I need a good arse kicking. :D

Kudos NL !!!

wow...I didn't notice this thread.
Is the game still on? Have we decided a deadline yet?

I may take a shot at it if I finish up the rest of my stuff before the end of the year.

Timboz

The intro good.

The vox is very strong and upfront.

I love how you gave place to the tom rolls throughout...they are excellent. The drums are strong in the mix. They cymbals have a nice tapping ring to em.

The snare has a good pop. It could be just a tad louder I think.

The bass is interweaves with the tune...I hear it, but have to take a sec to make sure I am hearing it...strange, but cool.

At 3:21 the bass takes it's place with the axes.

The axes are strong and raw.

I like that you let the drums shine through along with the axes.

I like your mix timboz it is raw and I like raw...but beginning at 1:28 the volume jumps up suddenly and from then on the mix seems to be fluctuating in the overall volume, that I did not hear in your first mix that I had listened to, and liked so much.

Is anyone else hearing the volume fuctuation?

Kudos Timboz

It was supposed to have ended the 4th, but there have been a couple of new entries since soooooo...I would venture to say it would be safe to enter....you'll have to ask Perdi though to know for sure. :D

did the band get another chance to hear the songs, and did they hear any of the new entries, Perd?

Hey dudes...

Ok, I really need to let go of this song soon. I made the third version of my mix, after listening to some criticism. I'm convinced this one is the best yet. Heheh.

What I'm hoping to be the result here: More focused bass, less boomy toms, less middy guitars, slightly stronger vocals (added a dash of distortion on the verse vocals), stronger final part (added the 3rd guitar in the middle). Actually, I'm pretty sure the kick is way way too loud. Oops...

Anyway, what do you guys think? :) Don't hesitate telling me what sucks in the mix. I'm here to learn and would appreciate all the commenting you can handle! ;)

The more I listen to these, the harder it is. To start with, I love the song and the performances on it are good. Sometimes I find myself not "listening" as I am listening to a mix. Then I have to start all over again !!! :D This is taking me forever.

BentRabbit

Rabbit, I really like your mix.

Here is what my ears hear....and I could be going deaf.

Instrumental intro is good and strong with loud overall volume.

Vox are too low in the mix....except at 5:30. I LOVE the effects on the vocals...great growls and the reverb/echo/delay is just right !!! Has a trippy feel to it.

The axes are great. I love how you have them panned and emphasized without them eating up the other stuff.

The first few times I listened, I was thinking that the bass needed to come up in certain areas...but as I listened more, it occurred to me, whether intentional or not, you allowed the kick bass to be the *frontman* bottom end in the beginning from 1:30 to 2:25...then back to kick bass until 3:30 where again the bass jumps up front and the kick backs off...pretty creative and good stuff Rabbit. I do realize this may be the bass I am hearing the whole time being eq'd in those parts...but it sounds good whatever.

The snare could come up in volume. The cymbals too. I want to hear that ring ding.

Kudos Rabbit

seems this mix thread has gone on forever......although there are new mixes(and i have listened to em') i'm stickin to the original 3 that i picked DAYS ago:D its gettin kinda hard to keep up....i really hope that the band found something that they want to use.

Well, how is it going?

I can see that it's very timeconsuming....=)

Any news from the band?
I would imagine, they are having a time trying to decide. All of the mixes, I have listened too so far, have their uniqueness, if a bit of tweaking needed...so it would be hard to decide. You guys have done a knock up job ! :) :D
