Like your vocals a lot. What hit me is the incredible amount of 1/4 note triplets played, even in the solo.
To me, this song needs some New York Slick polish added to it to make it come alive. Your vocals stand out so much more than the music... which is a good problem. I'm just hearing a great singer and the backing music is just too simple and plain to support it. The vocals don't even have any fancy processing on them... killer verb, etc... and they still sound good. But the drums are very mono, the guitars sound like they are just direct in and no character. The bass fills its' function, but I'm imagining if it was really nice sounding bass, what that would do. Although the gtrs are panned, they seem 10:2 versus harder panning, which would probably be weird. That scrunches up the mix towards more mono as well.
As some suggestions, I might suggest better stereo on the drums and a couple of drum fills wouldn't hurt. Put them in a room too. The BG vocals, quadruple the quanity and do the Eagles stereo spread on them. Stereo-ize the rhy gtr and the lead gtr needs some identitiy, either with a better sound or subtle effects and grit. I DO hear some reverb and I know the song would be really dry without it....but a nice, really wide stereo verb this is noticed on tails, would be good. These are my ideas, and realize many would disagree. Your vocals are unque like Clapton's which I'm sure you're tired of hearing, but different enough to really be your own. They have big league capability and to ME really shows on your stuff... just waiting on the music to catch up, then the singing can jump forward ahead too.
