Missing piece from double kick pedal

Damn. Lost the link part from my DW double kick pedal. You know, that long rectangular thing that goes between the elbow on each pedal. At the drum store, they tell me it's over $100 and a special order!!! Just a little simple piece of metal!!

Any suggestions? I might as well just buy a new pedal.

Dont know if the conecting rod from a tama will fit.
