keep the aliases out of the mp3 clinic..about as funny as sweetcorn in your shit

Not bad.

There seems to be a lot of stack-up in the upper mids. I think spreading things out will help. Too much happening near the middle. Musically it sounds pretty good. I like the drums. Vocals are too loud for me. Get em in the mix more.

Sounds like you might have preferred the first mix ?

EDIT: the 2nd mix was an update from headphones, that's probably where I ran into some trouble

Yep, 1st mix is better. Headphones are unCANny.
Good mix - I like the levels, the song calls for an out front vocal.
The drums are well mixed in the sound image thingo.
The ride (?) cymbal is a little sizzly.
Nice work.
Queen I & II sounded very hard rock meets prog with a bit of pomp to me.

Ok, latest version here:

EDIT: Song's not working. Must be a corrupt file or something

Song: Miss You

I had to use my old bands soundclick page because lightning mp3 was acting the maggot.

:D

Ok, so lightningmp3 finally let me upload it

That's the latest version, tell me what you think :)

Thanks

Yes, this latest mix sounds pretty good. Maybe a little light in the bottom end. Bring the bass up a hair.

dude....

Nicely done man. ;)

You sing very well. Made me wanna hump yer leg. :laughings:

I might bring the bass out even a skosh more. Or maybe it's what I'm listening on. (quite possible) I also noticed maybe you could touch the lead vox up a decible, maybe one and a half, in the more abrupt crescendo chorus parts and then fade it back to where it is now. It gets a little buried.

Good stuff man.
I tip my beer in your general direction.

When the vox begin it sounds kind of like the style of that dude from My Morning Jacket...I mean, if his style went gay or something...not that there's anything wrong...

Good song and good mix("I need someone like you" *ping*), or should I say goo goo.

Of course I haven't yet even acquired rookie status, but maybe perhaps some lower mids might give it some meat(no pun intended), or maybe it would just muddy it up?...maybe it's just the headphones.

Overall it sounds very good.

Well... I'm listening to it right now (mix 3) from the crappiest computer speakers on the planet, and I can hear the bass and kick clearly - so... kudos on that.

The accent that singer has is very unique.... Or maybe it's just the way he sings... Very unique indeed. I'm stuck deciding whether I hate it more than anything on the planet, or whether I'll put it on my media player and listen to it all day long.

Great mix, bro.

Oh, and yes, your first mix gives a 404 error, but the 3rd didn't. (I haven't tried the 2nd).

Thanks Dawg :D

That's not me singing though. I can't hold a tune :(

If you're talking about the part towards the end with the 3 vocals, that was intentional. The vocals get a little samey in that part, so I thought letting the music take over and pushing the vox into the background a little would work well.

Thanks for listening :)

Error 404 - File Not Found

On the latest mix? I got it working  Was it this one:

Bass up

...and it feels good :)

I tried bringing up the low mids a tiny bit and it kinda muddied it up a little, so I left it be

Thanks for listening man, appreciate it :)

I agree, the singer has a very distinct voice. Maybe it's the Irish ;)

Thanks for listening man :)

the lead vox sounds too center and not loud enough.

i would up 1 db at least and expand.

it's not gay, it's good quality vag rock!

Ha, "Vag Rock", never heard that one.

Sheesh, i've listened to this one over and over. :o

There's something about the darkness, and the guy's accent is compelling. I hadn't really noticed before it was mentioned. Funny how he speaks perfect "American" when he says "cuz I need someone like you".

I really do so much appreciate this site/forum, it is teaching me to listen to different aspects of recording and music that would have otherwise gone unnoticed.

It's a good song, and the mixing sounds top notch. Nice work Phil.

BTW, is it okay to ask who the group is?...are they signed and releasing this on a CD?..I mean, not for me, in case my wife wants to know. :o

You DID say it was gay, not that it SOUNDED gay.
That's not even the point, anyway. The point is that you are supposed to offer constructive criticism about the mix, not say how gay you think a song is, or even how gay it sounds.

You're a moron. Go away.

Learn to read bub I said it sounded gay. and anyways if you just mixed it be happy happy the mix is good.

You might try taking your own advice...read. It was Phil's mix, as was stated over and over in this thread, if you had read it.

"that song is gayer than the goo goo dolls..."

The operative words, "is gayer". Those are quotation remarks, just to clear up any confusion.

Yeah, I know, making friends is fun..but just let it go, man...just let it go.

Lead vocals too center?

I never heard that one before. What do you mean exactly? I thought it was a good idea to put the main focus of a song in the center?

It's a good song, and the mixing sounds top notch. Nice work Phil.

You're a kind man, thanks d00d :D

He'll have to, he's banned  :D:D
