Sorry about the quick flood on the board. I put these vids together and I merely take new mixes and add them to existing video. This one was an exercise is removing clutter. I just thought the original version too busy, so I cleaned up a lot of crap that I'd put in there and was enamored with at one point, and just decided it really wasn't adding anything but busy note making - so I stripped this piece back to its essentials, and I think the "less is more" approach better works for clarity and definition.

Any/all comments warmly welcomed.

I'm nearing completion of the ones I wanted to go back to and fix on this release. Sometimes being unknown affords flexibility of change. :D

I did a bit of EQ and some other fixes - not as bass heavy as yours - I like yours but I don’t think it translates well.
The Bass and Vocals are digitally distorting BTW - I like the tune a lot - very clever - almost a 80s vibe.

Bassist agrees w/ you. He heard it on ear buds and thought it fine, but a later listen on his critical listening system revealed "too much bottom". I'm not near my studio - but I will give your revision a spin tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

My mention of using video to present mixes here is that it is easy for me to use it as a vessel for presentation. I'm still working on dialing in the audio.

It's funny. You went in the direction of a little louder, and I went back and went a little softer. We'll leave the versions as is for comparison.

I did like what you did. You're right. Bass has less mud, more definition.

I actually went and pulled everything ever so slightly back - and I eq'd the bottom back a hair. Not much. What I was really trying to get was the bass in the pocket of the kick w/o losing the kick's snap. My wife also complained about the vocal vamping at the end. She said, it sounds a little screechy. So I covered it in effects sauce. :D

This is the version:
