I just turned my buddy on to this, and he liked it as much as I did..

he agreed that the cymbals were too loud, and the song and vocals are excellent..

he also agreed that the vocals on my last tune blew.. :D

Hey Fellas,

FIRST EFFORT? NICE JOB!

guernica-
miracles-
i really like the intro, and then the guitar figure that brings in the real intro, the stop, then it kicks in.....
nice touch.
rhythm guitar has a nice tone, a great contrast to the santana-ish solo tone....
vocal sounds somewhat effected, flanged....... which adds some sibilence that to my ears is harsh.....but i like the performance, i'd have mixed it with only some ambient reverb on the voice, and let that performance shine through more...
the drum programming is a little distracting in places, the turn arounds......there's a fill that kind of covers other cool stuff that's going on...... but the arrangement's great........ the stop and go's, that works.....
solo tone is neat, the basic tone to me sounds good without the additional effects on it (slight chorus, or harmonizer maybe?)
a little more thump on the kick side would make this thing really swing....
i don't like the fade out, seems like it should have ended with a hard ending......
good tune!

IT'S BACK!!!!!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Guernica:

First of all, I want you to know I downloaded all 8 megs of this overweight puppy on a dial-up modem at 28.8. :(

Secondly, I want you to know IT WAS FRIGGIN WORTH EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

This is excellent. Great song. Good singing. Nice playing. Great recording/mix. Everything was clear. Certainly among the very best things I've heard around here.

Now my two nits (and they are nits). The snare sounds cheesy. A great snare sound, a couple decibels louder would really drive this song. The other, is the fade. This song needs to end. The fade was a cop out. I want to be lost in one of the great grooves in this song, and have it stop. So I can go, NOOOOO, I want MORE!!!!

Remember, these are nits. This is most excellent.

5 stars back at you (if I only knew how to do that). :)

I'm just getting back to the clinic after a month or so with no speakers. Wish I'd never bought new ones after hearing this. I suppose you could say that this will give me a goal, something to aspire to. All I can think of is how the hell is my shit ever gonna stand up to the Guernica test. I'm fucked. Thanks.

Great tune.

lou

:D

Hey fellas,

ChrisHarris:)

GonzoX Thanks for the listen man, and I agree w/ everything that you mentioned. I hate the vocs, and voc processing in this. The sibilance that you mentioned drives me nuts. It's real apparent on the opening lines to each verse.
..and yeah, I too hate the flange.
I think the real drums are gonna be a dramatic improvement in this. And, I'll work on the tone in the lead (and the lead itself). .....toooo much chorus. thanks man.

Dachay2tnr sorry about the size man, I know the pain of a dial-up connection..... allthough mine is a 56:p :D I agree w/ you regarding the drums. Gonzo mentioned the ending too. I messed w/ a hard ending and didnt come up w/ anything that i really liked, so youre right.... it was a cop-out:D I'll mess w/ that idea some more. Thank a million for the nice words man.

SkyBlueLou Thanks a bunch for the kind words man.

Love this! Your voice sounds a bit like Steve Miller to me, and that's a good thing (as Martha would say). Very trippy. When's the CD coming out? I'm down at Tower Records waiting and tapping my foot.......tap.....tap.....tap.

I really dig the drum mix. Especially the toms. I also like the busy hihat & percussion stuff here and there. I don't hear the "awfulness" of the mix you said. I like the mix. Nothing wrong with it. Maybe those crash cymbals could be more reverb-heavy or quieter.

Song is great, yeah. No doubt about it. The guitar solo rules too. Just at the right spot and not too lengthy. I'd like to hear more if it. Maybe let it rip on the outro solo more, I dunno. Great tune and the mix is great too, IMO.

Hi Guernica

I liked it very, very much.

You are so good both in guitar and singing. Do you do all the instruments by yourself?

The mix is great, too.

The only nitpick is that for my taste sometimes the electric guitar sounds a bit "direct" or overprocessed, not sure...

But overall, you get an A in my book.

Guernica:

I've listened to this tune a number of times....and it sticks...I'm humming it all day!

Very good song, - if its not a hit, then its a very close miss! Also, great full mix.

Great tune, sounds like you know what to do with the mix.

......stay away from "razorLAME" .....shitty.
Why do ya say that? I've been using v1.1.5 for a while now as a front-end for LAME, and it does the job for me.

That's a cryin' shame.......................

...............that TALENTED peeps like you have not been signed to a multi-album rec'ding contract!!

Awesome, Phat, MADDDD-TIGHT, STRONG, MELODICALLY IMPRESSIVE and SUPERB PRODUCTION!!!!!

It's dawg's like you that let me know there's still HOPE in the
game of music!

for some reason, I'm capable of letting a thread go on and on and on and on....and not seeing it for some reason....

anyway, after the shaky drums in the intro, the song kicks into gear great. This song just smacks of being recorded on a 16 track, 2" in some sleazy studio in the south somewhere, with a great little board, and a natural reverb chamber in the back...maybe an old mono recorder for predelay and slapback..... but back in the 70's. A lot of good stuff from then, but the recording doesn't "sizzle" like everything seems to do nowadays. That's ok though...

your vocals are the king here. great chops, you lucky shit.

nice tune all around, performing, and all that good stuff. I liked it....even with the 'retro' recording sound. It's the music first. And don't take this as a slam on the recording side too. Not my thoughts or intentions. Great full bass sound too. I liked that especially.

I was just spinning this tune again, and it sounds like you didn't lower the cymbals yet..

it's been a few months man, where's the remix?

this is my favorite G tune!

hey all...

I agree! Very well done! Your voice is awesome. Whoever is lurking in the shadows around you and criticizing your talent needs to get smacked (verbally, anyway). You're as good as the best. There, I said it. Don't wanna hear no more apologies. If you think you can do better--OK, but this knocked me out! The track rocks like its supposed to as well. Music is about the heart and you you are right there.
