Farview, how do you keep the mids from building up with minimal eq? Do you then eq the whole mix some, to lower places where frequencies build up? I always seem to have trouble with the middle portion getting loud, and then the lows and highs seem quiet. I can compensate some by using eq to lower the mids some, but is this the proper way, or is there a better way?

I will get that problem if I layer too many guitars. Most of the time, if I get that problem, I will buss the guitars together and eq the buss. If you get this problem all the time, you might want to re think your guitar sound.

Thanks. Makes sense now as to why this could happen.
 
The buildup doesn't happen as much when the guitars are less distorted. It's usually the super over-gained guitar sounds that will have this problem. Back off on the distortion to give it more air.
 
listened to slain.. nice!! a bit of Slayer in there.. other than some of the double bass being a little heavy in the beginning, it sounds real good.. the singer doesn't do much for me.. great sounding guitars..

also listened to awaken dead.. the high hats sound a little weird around 30 but it gets better.. killer music.. the singer is not as good as the music imop..

good stuff!
 
great sounding band, and the mix is incredible considering there's hardly any processing at all. i think the singer sounds good, and the band is super tight. i like. :D
