Question: I'm sequencing in the Kurzweil K2500XS, but I'm not sure that my question bars answers from other machines, so have at it, please!

MIDI 123 is the ALL NOTES OFF command sent on all MIDI channels.

I'm wondering if placing a Controller MIDI 123 command at the very beginning of all my SONG sequences, would be a wise safeguard against any artifacts from a prior performance interfering with the next performance, or could that cause an issue of some kind that I am unaware of?

I do not wish to, nor intend, to hit my PANIC button after each song as a safeguard. I'd like to just have the ALL NOTES OFF programmed into the extreme beginning of each SONG to start afresh.

Ever hear of anything like this before?

If you're not having a problem with stuck notes or hanging notes or whatever from the last song it sounds like you might be being too careful.

There's nothing that you can't hear in the midi stream --- no phantom anything or ghost anything. And if you don't hear any problems you probably should be concentrating on something else.

I tried it, and

A few days ago I tried my idea, even after reading a MIDI book that seemed to suggest it, too, and my result was not good, nor expected.

It turned off all the sound on my Kurzweil, and I could not resurrect it, even after rebooting my machine. I tried a reset parameter, to no avail, and a couple other "tricks", but for some reason, my Kurzweil reacted by turning off all the sound engine. The lights lit up normally, but no sound.

So I had to backup everything and do a Hard Reset, which fixed the issue.

Strange.

So I have since removed any MIDI 120 thru 123 commands.
