midi playback problems

hello,
just hooked up an alesis QS6.1 to my iMac via the m-audio uno midi interface. using cubase se and while the audio recording seems to be going fine, this is my first time trying to record midi. here is the problem: i hooked everything up and while i am getting a signal through the m-audio uno interface into cubase there is no playback. i can't hear a thing. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks,

Are you expecting something audible to be transferred through the MIDI cable?

You need two MIDI cables, one from the keyboard's MIDI Out to the computer's MIDI In to send MIDI data to be recorded in Cubase, one from the computer's MIDI Out to the keyboard's MIDI in to send the recorded MIDI data back to the keyboard so it knows what sounds to make. Naturally, you need to have the audio outs of the keyboard hooked up to something so you can hear it.

You say you "hooked everything up" -- describe your hookup with a little more detail and maybe we can figure out what's wrong...
