MIDI Only

What kind of computer power do I need if I am doing MIDI only projects? I am only looking to do 8-16 tracks. I ask because (1) I am new to MIDI (2) I want to record audio on a stand alone unit and sync it with MIDI or record the MIDI to one of the audio tracks - unless of course some one can direct me to an all-in-one stand alone work station that incorporates audio (4-8 tracks) and MIDI (8-16 tracks).

Virtually any new computer you buy today can, with proper configuration, do MIDI and multiple audio tracks just fine.

If you're looking to use an older computer, pretty much anything will run a MIDI-only sequencer if you can find software (most are integrated MIDI and digital audio sequencers nowadays).
