hey there, it's my first post!

One of the hobbies I have is Music Composition. Right now I'm using Finale Notepad beacuse it's free and I'm using the mouse to input the notes. I'm not a very good Pianist so keyboards are pretty much out of the question but I am an experienced Guitarist. Does anybody know of what I need to do to plug a guitar into a pc not for recording purposes but soley for composition if that makes sense...

Thanks

Yes, you need a guitar to MIDI system, like the Roland guitar synth system. Pretty expensive. You need the special pickup (or another guitar with one of these pickups installed) that converts the string vibrations to Roland's proprietary signal, and the "brain" that can accept these signals and turn them into MIDI messages.

There are some applications that will allow you to attempt to render a simple(monophonic) audio file to MIDI data, but it's very cumbersome, it's probably almost easier to enter the notes manually into Finale Notepad.
