I have a Korg TR61 wokstation and a HP laptop. I am using Cakewalk Sonar 7 recording software and am trying to record the tracks off the TR, but get nothing. I have it connected via USB from the TR to the laptop, but I have an erie feeling that I am missing something. Before I spend money on something I don't need, I am asking for help so that I can get what I need the first time. Anyone have any information for me? It will be greatly appreciated.

I want to record midi, using Cakewalk Sonar 7 software. The TR is actually a midi workstation.

Does it show up as a MIDI device? Are you setting it on the MIDI track as the input device?

Keep in mind you wont hear anything unless you are either listening to headphones from the Korg or you are controlling a VST instrument or some other internal MIDI device.

There is a drop down list of midi devices, but the TR is not listed, it only shows up as audio device, so I named it the TR. I set it on the midi track as the TR midi device, arm the track for recording and when I try to record, the track will only record the metronome clicks. It seems as though I can't even get it to recognize the midi and I have played with the I/O options to no end. The next step is gasoline and a match. Did I say that I really appreciate your help? I know you may be busy and I don't take your advice for granted. I have approximately 60-70 tracks on the TR I would like to get recorded and copywritten.

Sorry I don't know Sonar so some of these might be stupid suggestions.

Is there an option to record all MIDI inputs? I use cubase and this will catch anything that is a valid MIDI device.

It does sound odd that the TR doesn't show up a a MIDI device.

Do you have the latest drivers installed? http://www.korg.com/SupportResults.aspx?productid=191

Is the click track you're recording coming from the TR?
