Hi guys,
I have a problem, I use external devices for MIDI signals, but when I write down the notes to play in piano roll window and I start playback automatically it starts with the 1st program in the external device, I mean for example I want sound number 164 to play and when I hit playback button it starts with program number 1, is it a problem of slave and master?
I dunno, I set n-track as slave but it didn't make any difference.
Anybody could help me please?

Thank you
cheers
Marco.

You're barking up the wrong tree. "Slave" and "master" only have to do with synchronizing one device to another (for example a computer sequencer and a tape machine), not with triggering sounds from a MIDI module.

You have to set up the MIDI channels properly based on the MIDI implementation on the external box. For most of them that have been out for a while, this is often made painless by some sort of instrument definition file that maps patches numbers to patch names for the particular synth. I am unfamiliar with nTrack, but it should be fairly straightforward.

In all sequencers I've seen a track can be assigned to a MIDI channel. Each track is set to select which sound it's supposed to trigger based on patch change and/or bank change messages. At the other end, the external device has to be set appropriately so that it responds to messages coming in on the channel that's being used by the sequencer.

Sounds like your patch setting is wrong in the track.

You need to insert a Program Change message in the beginning of each track. Just make sure you have a few beats of silence in the beginning so the module can change patches before it starts playing.

That is also a handy way to switch patches in the middle of a song on the same midi channel.
