Midi controlled playback device?

Anyone here familiar with a playback device be it a CD player,minidisc player, 4 track, mp3 player or sampler that can be controlled to play a particular track on demand with a midi foot switch ??

I would think any sampler would do the trick but the hardest part would be finding a controller you like. I haven't used any in a while so I can't really recomend any but some will be much easier to program than others.

There are also Roland/Boss and other foot pedal phrase samplers so you could do it all in one box. Do a search on 'phrase sampler' at www.musiciansfriend.com and they have a bunch of stuff to give you some ideas of what you can do.
