MIDI 2.0

What has/is happening about it? I take Sound on Sound every month and see sheds of reviews of keyboards and synths and other hard ware with MIDI ports* but never any mention of the new, advanced MIDI protocol.
I also infest three audio forums and no mention there AFAICT? Is it a lost cause due to lack of interest/investment by the major music manufacturers?

*There is a review of a Tascam mixer in the current SoS and VERY unusually for a mixer it has two MIDI DIN ports!

From what little I know, the MIDI 2.0 is going to be more focused on computers. When I say computers, this isn't PC/Mac boxes only. A good example is Ableton's Move

There are other controller boxes, but what I can see, this is where the new standard is going. Then there is support for the recorded format to transfer from machine to machine. Unless you are going into that direction and not "really" playing keyboards like the old standard was supporting. I don't see 2.0 bringing anything to musicians, just performance types and bedroom warriors. Maybe birthday and house parties would probably work.
