I need a good shop to repair a couple of Shure Beta 58's. The repair should be pretty easy since the only thing that is wrong is that the connection wires inside have been snapped. I left them out one night and a very young aspiring engineer decided to take them apart to see how the worked.

In any case, Shure will repair them for 55 dollars each. That seems a bit high for a job that is probably 5 minutes or less and uses very little material. I could probably do it myself but I am very bad with my hands and I don't want to damage anything.

I live in the Aurora/Naperville area. If anyone knows a good shop, please let me know.

Well, before you break your aspiring engineer's arms, have him take it to any electronic repair shop should be able to perform that fairly easily (if it just needs a soldering job). Otherwise there are many mom/pop music shops in that area that should be able to help you out.

I missed the 'very young' part of your thread. If that refers to you child, then ignore the part about breaking arms. :D

You could try Modern Music in Lisle.

They would probably do it. I laid eyes on my first 4-track cassette at Modern Music. They used to rent them out. They are largely responsible for my recording habit.
