Hi,
The Kodak Zi8 is a digital camera which has a 3.5mm jack for external mic input. I am looking at a very small microphone that would plug directly in to improve recording e.g. the kids playing at the park. Would the Olympus ME52W b any good and would I work? Any other recommendations appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

That simple audio technica stereo mic should do fine...but a field recorder like a Zoom H2 is what I use with that very camera...it gives a much better recording than a mic alone.

what's your budget? You can spend up to 500 for a sweet one

Cheap and cheerful, the camera is only £115, not want to be over about £30. Must be small and directional.

I dont know what those weird swiggly things mean...but in real money the AT stereo mic I suggested is around 30 dollars...the Zoom H2 is arround 100 bucks but its even nicer.
