You're close to getting it. You can't go from the Yamaha to your Peavey unless the Yamaha has a line out and the Peavey has a line in. I don't think that's true. The Yamaha would work fine with your DMP-3, I think, and the Harbinger would work all by itself (XLR mic ins) or with the DMP-3 (1/4" line ins). Here's the tradeoff- The Yamaha has more power, and the Harbinger has EQ. Both have advantages, but at least now we are talking about systems that can do what you need them to. What you don't get with either system is reverb, which is the advantage if the Squier system I recommended, which also has EQ but less power. There's the deal. You need to decide what you want in features, because all 3 systems put you right about at $250. Note that with either of the powered speaker systems, an FX unit could be added later, when funds become available. Then you go DMP-3 > FX/reverb unit > powered speaker. A good cheap but quite usable multi-FX unit with reverb and a bunch of other stuff can be had for about $200 new, or less used. I like TC Electronics M300, but the Lexicon units are OK also, for about the same price. You can get cheaper units from Behringer or Alesis, but they would not be my choice. Another item you will want as soon as possible is a speaker stand, to get that powered unit off the floor and into the air, where it will sound a lot better. Just stop trying to involve your guitar amp in this signal chain. It's a guitar amp, and it is not going to become useful for live sound reinforcement. It's a guitar amp. You plug a guitar into it, and that is all that it is ever going to do.-Richie
