Out of these Microphones, Which is better? Shure KSM27, AKG C3000B, Technica AT 4040, Rode NT1000 ???? Respond!

Having used all of them, IMO, this is the general order of quality and usefulness. But it also depends on what you're using the mic for and who's using it.

Technica AT 4040
Shure KSM27
AKG C3000B
Rode NT1000

I've used all of the mics mentioned, and my opinion is the 4040, NT1000, and ksm27 are all very good for the price . . . and which is better is either a matter of personal preference, or it depends on the source. The akg isn't a personal favorite, nor do I think it is generally very well-liked.

Well, i need to know the greatest quality of the ones i listed. Home recording studio, rapping. which would u pick over the rest? please i need replies

Without hearing your voice, not knowing if the room sounds good where
you're recording, my answer is NONE of the above.
IMHO, since this is a stab in the dark due to the above, why not consider a
good dynamic vocal microphone that you have the option of using hand held?

One of the easiest microphones to use that fits within your price range and
sounds excellent on most voices is the Electro-Voice EV RE16.
Easier to use than a Shure SM57 or SM58 since it has EV's patented
"variable-D" design to mitigate proximity effect.
The RE16 has been one of the "standard" radio voiceover microphones
for years. Elvis and Aretha have used it too, what more do you need to
know! :) (was Elvis' "68 Special" vocal microphone BTW)

Chris

P.S. New these cost around $180+, used $80.

Well.....
darrin_h2000 said the AT4040
DOT said the AT4040
Chessrock said the AT4040

And chessparov said none of them.

I say........ it depends on which one YOU like the best.

Do the math. :)

well they are all $300 so i just want the best sound quality one.

Well if I was forced to pick one, it would be between the AT4040,
and the Shure KSM27. Then I'd actually try them on my voice!

I've owned/sold the AKG C3000B, which is better suited for (some) female vocals usually.
The Rode NT1000, when I tried it, was also too bright for my taste.

Thunder, find out if you can arrange trying out a couple condensers with a local dealer, so you can better compare them.
Nobody can find the "best" one for you over the Internet.

Besides the quality of your performance is much more important
than the difference between a "good" vocal microphone and a great one. Get one you feel comfortable with. That's why I
suggested the EV RE16 to start with.

Chris

P.S. Look for the new hand held condensers from AT that have the
same elements as the AT 4033 and AT4050, since you're
restricting yourself to condensers.

Actually, I said they are all of equal quality.

The NT1000 is no better or worse than the AT4040, which is similar to but no better or worse than the ksm27.

They are all excellent candidates and perform extremely well for the money.

Which band is a better quality band -- The Rolling Stones, The Who, or Led Zeppelin? Opinions on them would probably vary, but for the most part, they all fall in to same general category of very popular classic rock bands . . . and which one is "better" would depend totally on your taste in music, and what (to you) constitutes "quality."

Do you consider quality to mean longevity? If so, then the Rolling Stones would probably be your favorite, because they've been doing it for longer and steadier than the others. If your definition of quality means outstanding rock drummer who died too young, then either the Who (Keith Moon) or Zeppelin (John Bonham) would qualify, etc. etc. etc. and so on . . .

My opinion of "quality" might be very different from Chess' or DJL's or yours and vice-versa. But I'm sure a lot of us can agree the AKG does not play in the same class as the others for the most part. That would be like throwing some band like KC and the Sunshine band in there with the Who, Zep, and the Stones. The general consensus will be "any one of the first three, but definitely not the other." :D

Well, I mean I know there all about equal from what Im hearin but the best meaning the outcome of songs (rap). And background noise and hiss. I dont want any of that.

They're all just about as good in terms of noise and hiss to the point where that won't be an issue at all with any of them -- although a slight nod might go to the NT1000 (I think it's one of the quietest there is in terms of self-noise).

And if background noise is a concern, I wouldn't be looking at any of them. Condensers are very sensitive -- they're made to pick up anything and everything.

And whether it's rap, blues, easy listening, or polka, every voice is different, so it's next to impossible to tell what will sound best on your voice without auditioning them. Sorry -- I know that's not what you wanted to hear. I can tell you're looking to get a very easy and simple answer -- unfortunately there isn't one.

You might try getting a hold of a psychic reader :D. Someone like that might have better luck guessing which one will be a better match for your voice without actually trying it out first.
