Using:
Fostex MR-8MKII Digital Multitracker recorder
KAM KDM400 Dynamic Vocal Mic
Behringer UB1204fx-Pro Mixer
Great recordings using the Behringer mixer's pre-amps into the unbalanced/ guitar input of the MR-8 but hardly portable. When I use the mic on the balanced/ XLR input alone, the volume is incredibly low.
Suggest a cost effective solution? I could ramp up the waveforms in the DAW but suspect this will lead to noise.
I can afford to get a better dynamic mic but would this really make a difference? I'm not sure if it's the mic or the recorder's pre-amp to blame.
Or do you think it's acceptable practice to record low and add volume in the DAW?
