I have a shure ksm 27 mic. What do I need to do to be able to record to my mac (g4)? Can I go through an m-audio dmp3 to provide phantom power and the necessary link? Where do I plug it in on my mac (dumb question, I know)? I have pro tools free 5.0.1 on my mac to facilitate the session.

I can also use a PC if necessary, though my final recording needs to be compatable with i-movie on my mac. I could burn it to a cd and transfer that way, if necessary.

Please help!!! I am sure I don't even know enough to have asked all the right questions--maybe you can get me going in the right direction.

Thanks!!!

Crooner,

You will need a preamp to power your KSM27. You would plug the OUT from the preamp to the Mac's mic-in jack. It's a 1/8" mini jack on the back panel of your G4. It should be right next to the sound-out jack and will have a little microphone symbol near it. You should then be able to record into ProTools.

Good luck!
