I'm not sure if it was in this forum or another but there was an individual who posted about making homemade spider mounts about a year or so ago.

Can any one remember this or this persons name?

Thanks in advance.

No, but I've made a few myself. It's pretty easy. I used 2" PVC couplings and elastic hair ties. They work very well for most dynamics and SDC mics. What I did was to make six evenly spaced notchs on each side of the coupling and stretched 3 of the elastic hair ties around the coupling end to end wise to form the spider supports. Then I took an old conventional mic clip and fashioned a flange out of it and bolted it to the coupling so all could be mounted on a mic stand.

Thanks for the tip.

The person who originally did this had a rather unique way that did not involve using a mic clip.

Just can't remember where I saw it.

Did you check the longsoughtforsound sight? They have lots of DIY stuff and is commonly linked to from here....

Thats pretty good to but still not the one I'm thinking.

Thanks for trying.

I may have the link on one of my other computers - if I do I will post it.

It not only was extremely functional but looked good also.

I may be a complete and total idiot, but I just don't see how the mic fits into this shockmount...
Can you heal my ignorance? :D

It looks like the mic is suspended at the junction where the three rubber band mounts intersect in the middle.

Thanks for the tip. A low dollar solution for sure.

Also thanks for the bookmark to the home built stuff. It is a pleasure seeing nice work and well thought out plans.

Maybe it's just me but I sure wouldn't want a >$100 mic hanging by rubber bands. Real shock mounts lock the mic in position so they can't fall out. I guess you could tape up the mic cable as a safety.
