Depends on the mixer. But since you're asking, yes, bypass the mixer.
If it was a really high-end mixing console with top-notch preamps, you'd probably want to go through it and bypass the preamp in the 002, because the 002's preamps wouldn't be as good.

Ok o heres my issue.... I have to put the mic input know at 4 o'clock(picturing a clock) just to hear myself but yet vocals are hot. Any where from 2 o'clock and back you can't hear yourself in the ear phones?

I agree with the other guys, do not use the mixer. It is different if you had a good compressor to run through and then go into your 002. Its ok for your vocals to be hot as long as they are not constantly peaking or distorting or clicking or popping.
