Mic recommendation: $150, minijack, for acoustic guitar and spoken word

Hi,

I have an iPad 3 and a Tascam iXJ2 preamp dongle, which is equipped with mono/stereo 3.5mm(1/8") minijacks and 'plug in power'.

Looking for a decent mic for general recording of acoustic guitar, poetry recital, and assorted other artistic endeavours. Minimal hiss! Budget is around $150.

Was looking at the AT2020 but I don't know whether the Tascam will power it through an adaptor, thinking a mic designed for minijack might be simpler, but happy to be educated.

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't want a mini jack or any mic that used mini jacks any place in the recording chain. If you limit yourself this way you'll be sorry in a couple of months and wish you'd done it right.

Get rid of the Tascam pre amp and buy one of THESE then whatever mic you want. If that's too rich for your budget, Behringer have something similar at around the $100 mark.
