Hi friends,
I am going to invest on mic preamps and I need some advice on what to buy. I am recording drums on 16 channels and I also record bass, guitar (accoustic and electric), vocals. I record fusion jazz, jazz, psychodellic rock, progressive rock. I prefer open tones in drums with as much sustain as possible. I don't record demos, my raw recordings are to be mixed and mastered at another studio by a professional and will be used for an album. So I am not planning to buy a budget preamp. I already have a Tascam desk with lot's of preamps but I am planning to remove the desk from the recording line and connect the preamps directly to the harddisk recorder.
My mic choices in a drum recording are:
1. Bass Drum:Shure Beta 52
2.Snare Top : Shure SM57
3.Snare Bottom: Shure SM57
4.Piccolo Snare Top: Shure SM57
5.Piccolo Snare Bottom: Shure SM57
6.tom tom1: Shure Beta 98
7.tom tom2: Shure Beta 98
8.tom tom3: Shure Beta 98
9.tom tom4: Shure Beta 98
10.floor tom1: Shure Beta 98
11.floor tom2: Shure Beta 98
12.hihat: AKG C414 BULS
13.Overhead L: Shure SM81
14.Overhead R: Shure SM81
15.Ambiance :SonyC38B
16.Ride: Universum (don't know the model) (I heard that it was produced by Neuman for Universum. It looks like a Shure SM81)

For accoustic guitar I use Sony C38B or AKG C4000B
For electric guitar I use an SM57
For bass recording I use an AKGd112
For vocals I use Sony C38B

I want to capture the full sound to give as much possibilities as possible to the person who is going to do the mixing. My products are raw recordings ready to be mixed.

If there are appropriate chocies of preamps with 8 channels I would prefer them because of the low per channel costs like millenia media's HV3D. I need at least 16 channel mic preams.

Thanks for your precious advices.
