mic pre & compressor

i want a good mic pre and a compressor, or a channel strip, my budget is about 700-1000 for both..

i want to record electric guitars, pop/rock vocals and DI bass..

any recommendations?

The Toft ATC-2 may fit the bill as well

I'd recommend the Aphex 230 or the PreSonus Eureka for their shear sonic purity and functionality. And you can save yourself 500 bucks. If you feel the absolute need for a compressor, just add a nice DBX 166 and you're all set.

kenny, unfortunatelly the chameleon and the spec are not easy to find in europe

i would like some more info on the toft

some other units that are in my list are:

TL audio ivory 2 5051
Drawmer MX60
M-audio Tampa
GT Brick & a compressor

any opinions?
