Mic placement from Shure:

Judging by the wording and structure of that document (dated 12/04), I'd be willing to bet $100 that a lot of the ideas and explanations presented there came from our own 2001 "big thread". The layout of ideas and explanations are almost identical. And we know Shure people were here on a regular basis.

It's a shame they didn't see fit to credit HR with something.

Oh, and this statement on page 39 of their document is wrong:

"3-to-1 Rule - When using multiple microphones, the distance between microphones should be at least 3 times the distance from each microphone to its intended sound source.
 
Hi Harvey! I was actually hoping to confirm that with some of you guys that have been around longer than I. I was reading through it saying "...gee where have I seen that before?"
 
Thanks for the link. While I mostly record guitar, bass, drums and vocals, some of the tips on mic placement for other instruments may come in handy someday.
 
That was my big thing about it, actually. A PDF file with some decent info, all-be-it questionable the ways the information was collected. Glad someone else will see some use out of it!
