mic boom stands w/ wheels

Metal dude
I was flipping thue the GC monthly flyer, and saw one for $70 and another for $250. Is there any pro's the wheel type have over a tripod?
Do the wheels act like a shockmount for the boom from the floor?
 
I guess that you'd need the type where the wheels had a brake - i.e. - could be locked in position so that the stand doesn't roll on a sloping stage.

Many stages are not level.
 
Yes the wheel types have an advantage - this being the ability to roll a heavy pile of steel instead of picking it up. As far as being a shockmount - I would think this might be true if the wheels were made out of foam or something.
 
I own 2 of the On Stage SB96+'s they are blowing out, ang they're *great* stands. You won't be sorry.-Richie

But do they cut or reduce the floor rumble/vibration that the mic will pick up?

No.

If you need to cut or reduce floor rumble/vibration... set your mic stand on a rubber pad and shock mount the mic.
