What a total coincidence. I ran into your mom at a cattle auction, and she said "moooo". :p
My mom is polite like that.Far be it from her to leave your wife out of the conversation.

I'm not worried about retaining value when I buy a $300 guitar,I just want to play it.Playing it is it's main value in my book.

I have a MIA Tele,a MIJ Strat and a MIM J bass.I'm happy with all of them.

well... when all the companys outsource all the labor.... what are YOU gonna do for a living?
At some point in time... we ALL will regret this outsourcing to other countrys... Mark my words.... then you all will sit back and say.... damn... I wish I had bought american after all...

Who? Me? I'm going to keep pumping, treating, analyzing, and delivering water to 18-22 year old Southern California girls. I'll still take a 15 minute break at 10am, a 30 minute lunch at noon, and a 15 minute break at 2:30pm. Still be getting around 12 hours of vacation per month, 8 hours of sick leave, and I'll still observe at least 15 holidays per year, and not pay a dime for full medical, dental, vision, and chiropractic care.

But don't fret, buckaroo, they can't outsource burger flippers, so you'll be fine.

And I'd just LOVE to see a complete gear and computer list of yours.

I happen to like people in the good ole USA to have good paying jobs.... I dont want to send my money to mexico china japan or any of those places when I have a choice.
...

In another thread you mentioned you have a Behringer Powerplay Pro-8. :D That was made in Michigan, right ?

I have a Fender Fotoflame Telecaster...made in Japan.

Is it only good for making chopsticks?

:D :D :D

Ya know...

Some people really have the ears for it, and some just think they can hear electrons...

with a good setup and decent pickups, most will play and sound pretty good... but there are different tools for different jobs. Once you add ANY processing, you now have an entirely different situation and you cannot totally pin the guitar on many aspects of the sound.

I've had nice guitars and I've had some POS. Put a custom shop SRV or a GIbson Gary Moore and put it through a DOD or an ART for reverb and A/B them with a MIM or an EPI and then talk to me...

FWIW

The BEST neck I have as far as 'playability', by far, is a Korean Dean V- hands down. When I'm playing metal- it rules. When I play blues.....

most of the necks overseas are, IMO consistent. When I look at my older USA's, no. but there are different components... I dunno ~~~~~

Here's my MIM. After some fret dressing and a good professional set-up, it's one of the nicest playing guitars I've ever owned.

Holy crap...........talk about knit picking........

Buy a Les Paul and you won't have to worry about where it's made........ :D

<putting on nomex fire suit........waiting>

I think its actually NIT picking.... as in picking baby gnats(nits)!! :)

Now THAT is KNITpicking!

nits are baby lice..

Back to the original subject MIM's I just bought a used MIM. It's a 1999/2000 according to the ser#. Other than the crappy ceramic pups it's a pretty nice piece. I'll wind a new set for it next week. There are some good deals on used MIM's out there if you look around. I gave $125 for mine. To me the fact that it came from Ensenada B.C. is no big deal.

Sorry, didn't know which was proper and didn't feel like busting out the dictionary to see which would fit. :p

One of the things I have learned over the years is
to buy equipment that will have a decent resale value.

Resale value doesn't necessarily correlate to how good a guitar is.
