set it to 3/4 and double the tempo if possible. it also depends on what program or metronome you are using.

Anyway to get the metronome to play in 6/8?
Just have each beat of the metrenome equal the dotted quarter note---
(two beats of the metrenome per measure--three eigth notes to every beat)
