Metronome skips

The Metronome in my Guitar Tracks II won't keep good time. It skips and stutters. Anybody got any suggestions? I haven't got a great computer just 10 gig HD and 64 Meg Ram but everything else works fine in this program. I found also that the only way I can get the Metronome to sound is to bring it through the PC speaker which is alright with me but maybe that's a problem that shouldn't be there either.

I'd tell you to buy an outboard metronome, but if you can't get the PC one to work you've got some other issues that need to be tracked down first. Is it just your MIDI output that does this or does audio stutter as well?

Can't get sounds from the Midi setting at all. I can only hear the clicks when the setting is on PC Speaker. There are no skips in the Audio it has always worked fine.
