Is there anyway to get the metronome to play only in a certain place?

Not that I know of, but you could make a simple clicktrack using a cheap midi drumkit (like the LM7 with a hihat on every beat) or some samples.

You could also use the LM7 as your click sound without programming beats and loops. I hate the digital beep so I use the click tracks midi feature to trigger a clave from the LM7. I believe you load the percussion kit and the clave is D#4 if I remember right. This would also allow you to automate your click (volume and mute etc...) so it can cut in and out at certain points.
