Yo guys, I am a metal vocalist who wants to find some vocal gear for recording as well as rehearsing/live. I have a bass/baritone voice, my screams resemble that of the singers of between the buried and me, and within the ruins, etc. (all that lower gutteral stuff) and I also was planning on using my singing voice as well.
I have been looking around for what exactly I am going to need, and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting too little for what I was looking for. The thing is I wanted a reliable source of good effects for recording and playing live/rehearsing. I just am having trouble determining what exactly I needed for these two scenarios.
For effects, I wanted some good harmonies/reverb/ delay/Compressor? ( I thought i read somewhere that it is almost a must for screams). all the metal goodies I can buy for myself. Now I was wondering if I should just get something such as a Voicelive 2 and run it into my firewire interface? Or should I set myself up a nice little rack of separate effects units. The thing is I already have a voiceworks plus but the thing is so damn complicated, so i'm considering selling it (I take paypal :) ) or should I just keep it and drill that shit into my head (that's if its the better option than the already mentioned considerations) Any recommendations here? forgot to mention I am using a sm57/ Audio Technica AT4040 Condensor mic combo

I am recording on logic, with a firewire interface

Now for my live/rehearsal scenario: I am having trouble determining what exactly I needed for this application. I am assuming just a PA and a mic? Which I plan on using a SM57 for this, as well as a QSC K10. Do I need more? Also, If I plan on using effects would I need to use a rack/voicelive 2 type thing?

Any help would be highly appreciated! I am hoping to receive some help from you recording gurus here on the forum :D.

The voicelive 2 is what i've been gearing towards, I just want to figure out if it would be a all in one solution for both recording and live application

No one piece is going to be perfect for everything BUT this can do a lot of what you want in both situations. It depends a great deal on bang for buck, and my budget is as limited as the next guy. I need to win the lottery :D
