Metal or Wooden?

Ok here comes the newbie question, but hey you gotta learn from somewhere. My jam room has a damn metal door I'm thinking I should get a wooden door in place of it. WIll wooden hold in more sound or am I just asking a stupid question??

It depends on how heavy the door is and how well it's sealed. I'd check the seal first.

How thick is the door? In many instances a metal door would be great!... if it's sealed properly.
Wood over metal? I don't have a preference really. Metal is probably heavier, therefore stopping more sound. But just remember it has to be sealed around every edge.
 
it's about standard thinckness but it's hallow and not thick like most wooden doors. the fact is i can hear much more sound when I come around to that side of the building
 
Then get yourself a solid core wooden door. Along with some weather strip to seal the edges.
