sounds good.
I think the kick doesn't have enough attack.
your cymbals are to loud in my opinion.
or maybe just to defined.
try get more of a wash?

decent mix though,
keep working at it.

Pretty good, just the cymbals too loud. How about posting the whole song?

Well it's not a whole song. This is the whole clip I did. I was just trying to get a base sound for recording.

Other than the drums what do you guys think about the guitars?

Here's an update.

Second one is better, cymbals are a bit piercing though, guitars don't sound too bad.

I'll try and work something out with the cymbals tonight. Thanks for the crits guys.

Cool idea.

The guitars sound pretty good. I really like the progression and the idea. The cymbals are a hair too loud and the decay on them is a little too short. I would say they sound programmed but i hear a slight inconsistency in the timing...so maybe triggered via e-drums??? If not i would say if you are close micing the cymbals pull it back. If you are using a typical over head set up i would raise them up or reposition the cymbals to make it less accentuated. I would really like to hear this in a finished piece as it has a nice dramatic vibe to it, and i dig this stuff. Guitars could be a little less muddy too but given the layering there it may be difficult to get the seperation and crispness in them. Also a little more click in the kick, but don't go nuts. Later...if you got time check out my post in this forum. Us metal heads need to help each other out...tricky music to mix well.

Actually they were all programed in BFD2 Drum Software. I'll lower the cymbals a bit and try to make them flow a little more. How about the panning of the cymbals? I'm using regular computer speakers so it's a little hard to pan out since they aren't the best quality. My subwoofer is ok though so I'll try and work on the kick a little.

Maybe add a bass guitar.

I would add it since I actually have a bass and bass amp but the amp is so crappy it isn't even really worth it. I'll see what I can do though.

Thanks for the crits guys :)

It's worth it. A metal song with no bass is a waste of time.

Why not record the bass direct? That works pretty well for a lot of people.

The clip sounds pretty good to me...you've already gotten some good tips.
