my live rig consists of a mesa/boogie "studio pre" preamp running into a mesa 20/20 power amp. now my power amp has a bad output transformer and is in the shop and i just found out i have a gig tomorrow night - i have arranged to use someone else's amp, but its a marshall valvestate head(ugh)...

my question is - can i run my preamp into his head and still get my mesa/boogie goodness? would i just plug it into the instrument input... or is that a no-no (preamp into a preamp)? or would i use the effects in jack?

thanks in advance....

never ever plug pre amp out into a insttrument input of an amp! What you whant to do is preamp out into effects in or preamp in on the back of the head (this way you will bypass the preamp on the head and your preamp will go straight to the marshall power amp). YOu will not get that boogie tube crunch,because........ its a soild state head. But hay, your luckey you got a power amp for the show.

thanks for the tip man...

...its always better to ask first, B4 you fry someone else's amp....
