Good point.
I was considering a pair of 603 or 012 for acoustic and a v67 for vocal, an Art single tube pre MP Studio V3 and Amp dual rack TPS pre for the pair, then I realized, duh, I can only record 2 tracks at a time.
Then since I don't even know what I'm gonna be getting with condensors vs
my dynamics, I'll just start by trying out a large diaphragm w/ single preamp. But that seems to be used more for vocals, and my voice doesn't need to be heard so much more clearer than
my SM-58. So why bother.
Next I figured ok, get a smaller diaphragm (and a premap) for mono acoustic, but then I been reading that X/Y stereo makes for a nice big acoustic sound. Once again, why bother, so now I think I'm going to:
1. get a second SM-57 (already have one) so I can X/Y my acoustic (and no preamp) - rec in 2 track stereo
2. dub the vocal mono w/ existing SM-58
and Save for decent monitor speaks
this'll run me only $100 or so, instead of all the other options are at least double, up to $350 or so....
This way I can see if X/Y really is worth it, also ya can always use another sm-57 forever and ever. Also, if X/Y is not so great, when I do get a condensor, i'll only need one small diaphragm mic and a one channel pre.
Anyone have solo acoustic guitar and vocal mp3's I can check out?
