The MC012's are here! The MC012's are here!

I got my Sound Room matched MC012 hypers - they've got a -10db "insert" I can add. When and why would I do this?

I use the mics with 2 setups:
at home, into a M-Audio Delta-66/Omni combination, then into a PC with Cubase 5.1 or SoundForge 6.0; and
remote, into an M-Audio AudioBuddy, then into a VS-840.

Thanks,

Jay

When you're micing something really loud . . . to prevent distortion and/or clipping. You'll usually know when you'll need them. :D

You probably won't ever need them for accoustic guitar. I would suggest always using them on drum overheads and/or other percussion . . . especially when close-micing.

Enjoy. You got yourself some nice mics there.

you would use them if the signal is too hot or it is clipping going into your recorder or in a situation where you are recording something with high spl level (like a djembe drum).
sometimes a mic pre will have a -10 pad but they say to pad the mic first.
-hope that helps
