MBox Out to 388

Hello - I would like to be able to sequence drums in my DAW, then bounce them out to my 388 through an MBox and track everything else on the 388. I tried doing this already, but the drums sound awful - and once a certain volume is hit, the sound just turns to feedback. Would adding a D/A converter to the signal chain between the MBox and 388 be a good solution? Or is there something else I should be doing? Thanks in advance for any help.
 
is it just a matter of the levels clipping the 388 electronics? have you tried turning down the output from your DAW?

Thanks for the response - yes, I've tried all configurations of volume on both the DAW and the 388, and get the same result once the faders on the 388 are about halfway up.
 
If you are getting feedback you have something wired wrong.
