Any big fans? I tried it out. At first it was way too easy to "over-bass" the mix, but once I tweaked it a bit I'm pretty excited about it. I discovered that I got the best results when I could barely hear any "boost" from the maxxbass when mixing. Then, when checking out the mix on various speaker setups, the bass sounded more "there" without distorting on smaller systems, at the same time making it easier for a clean, round low end without overkill on a mega-sub system (my car). I think it's a pretty cool tool, and it really gives me more control over the lows in my mixes, which are by far the hardest part for me to sort out. Not sure what the point of this thread is, except that I'm excited because I feel like I just lept a big hurdle in my journey towards creating a translatable mix.

Yeah , it`s a really useful tool, I`ve used it save wimpy bass tracks quite few times..... It`s pretty easy do overdo it though...:)

u should check out ren bass its the new revamped version of maxbass from waves

it's no doubt an awesome plugin.
I've never used it on an actual bass track, but i've used it to extract bass from other things.

It's sort of like an aural exciter / sonic maximizer . . . only for the low end.

Be careful with it. Particularly when applying it to entire mixes. I've been trying to get away from that, and instead, I'll apply it just to the kick drum and/or bass guitar . . . but only if they need it.

It's also great for adding a little meat to guitar tracks, by the way, depending on the style of music you're doing.

Everything comes from Waves is usualy great!!! And this one included. chesrock has a good opinion on where to put it in your tracks. But becarefull, and don't get fooled by the preset. Some just didn't make my sense (...boombox, eh ? :D ). I'd prefer set it myself than following the preset :).

Yeah, I guess I wasn't too clear on how I used it. I was applying it to the bass mostly, but also just a hint on the kick drum. I think If I applied maxxbass to one of my entire mixes, it would spell disaster. my guitars are always bordering on muddsville as is. They need no help in the bass department!
