I'm looking for some opinions on these three things. I want to use one of these as a DI for bass guitar and for recording vocals....the number of channels is not very important. I'm looking for versatility and the cleanest signal.

Thanks!!

Hey, Zed - I assume from your user name that you ride a ZX-10R?

if the number of channels isn't a factor, i wouldn't really take the Octane into consideration at all. i don't have any experience with the Line 6 product. but, i love my tampa. and i definitely think it's great for Bass DI. and it has a great compressor.

Thanks for the input. Have you noticed if the Tampa seems to "open up" the bass signal compared to a crappy DI box or crappy mixer? Or is that question too subjective...???

 Cool...I ALMOST got that exact bike in 2000. I opted for a Triumph Speed III instead. But I could not be happier with the 10R...it's an animal. You ever do track days?

i don't know what "open up" means. but, since i've had the tampa, it's been my favorite preamp to use on both vocals and bass DI.

ehhh....I'll take your comments and stop with the questioning. Thank you. :D

To my ears, my crappy mixer kinda puts a lid on my bass sound, hence my phrase "open up"....but don't worry about it....I apreciate your comments.

Absolutely. Just did one Monday, in fact, at the Motorsports Ranch in nearby Cresson, TX.

I've done close to 20 track days on the ZX-12R, and it's surprisingly nimble for such a big bike. I regularly surprise guys on liter bikes. But it does tire me out, since I have to use body position a lot more to keep the beast pointed in the desired direction! :D

You do track days, too?
