O.K. I'm new here, and I'm sure I'm about to ask a question already answered many times before. My situation is this. I have been recording my Stuff for a while. But my spare time is so little that It takes me forever to finish a song After a couple of months I have a few songs tracked and mixed so I like the way they sound separately. When I put Them on CD the whole disc sounds very inconsistent (obviously) as far as volume, EQ, everything. Keep in mind I burn CD's on a stand alone Phillips unit. No computer at home. I guess what I'm looking for is some insight as to where to start were I to transfer my tunes onto my computer and try to get everything to sound a little more similar, as well as a bit louder, stronger, etc. Once, again Any help appreciated, however, I am severely broke, so Recommending I buy some $10,000,000,000,000 equipment probably Wont work. Thanks all.
P.S. Has anyone noticed that I seem to capitalize words innapropriately while typing?

Do a search on "mastering" and you will most likely get more info than you ever wanted to know. Other than that figure out how much you want to spend. It can be as simple as taking the CD to work and using something like CoolEditPro, Wavelab, Soundforge etc to clean up the tracks and add some compression and limiting.
