Mastering Software

I am interested in buying software that would allow me to master two-track songs for purposes of applying fninshing touches, levels, etc. . . in preparation for buring a CD. I currently use a mac set up so I am looking at Bias Peak and T-Racks among others. I also have a PC that I could use for that purpose.

Any thoughts?

Does 2-track mean a single stereo track??

If so, Wavelab. And you can also use it to burn your CD's.

Yes dachay2tnr. That's what I mean by two track song = Single Stereo file!

Save yourself the trip i dont think they make wavelab for MAC unless something has changed since i was on their forum

I'd look into Sound Forge 5.0... In my experience it is more powerful than Cool Edit Pro and has more features built in (Wave Hammer, XFX1, 2 and 3, etc.). Guitar Center currently has it for $199 which is quite a deal. It has been something of a standard for quite a while, but it is only stereo track capable (unlike Cool Edit Pro), perfect for mastering though. Regardless of what you get, the Waves Native pack is essential for multiband compression, maximizing, parametric EQ, spatialization and dither/noise shaping (you are working at 24 bit aren't you, if not seriously consider it).

Considering wavelab, also look into thier Mastering Edition, and one of the best mastering deals is the Waves L1, especially the new one, and you can download a demo when you're ready to burn to disk.

I am really looking into the Waves products. I am still debating which one I need. I don't want to plunk down 1K for the Gold Bundle, so maybe the power pack for about $300?

Whatever, make sure you get the L1 and the Renaissance stuff, whichever package it comes in...
