Wow ,all this time I thought Sjoko was Danny Bonaduce.....Brian Ingolsby, heh....glad to meet ya Brian....I have an ex brother in law named Brian that I hate so can I just call u Freddie.....and Ill stick to calling barefoot his given name of "asshole"....

Gidge,

Sjoko is not Brian. Brian Ingolsby is a studio owner in N. Hollywood. Thats who I want to be adopted by. I blew it in 1990. Shame on me!

sjoko....for some reason, when I went to the MP3.com site of Pete's it didn't want to play...but I'll try again later, as that is nothing new.

I have a completed CD (on CDr or DAT) that I would love to send to you. I would be interested in your listening, then some general comments before you were to proceed with the mastering. Hopefully that is a reasonable request, or maybe you could be compensated for your listening time. Anyway....you can reach me at:
mixmkr@aol.com

thanks,
Chris Harwood

Sjoko2 - Damn, I am bummed that I don't have any material ready to be mastered. However I'm not sure that even you could salvage my work, as they say you can't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse:)

Don't be too hard on Barefoot, I can understand wanting to know someone's background before shelling out cash (especialy us poor folks). He just doesn't understand that an internet bulitin board is not the place to post your name.

Best of luck in your tune-up, I'm looking forward to seeing your equipment list!

Frank, in general the reference monitors used by mastering houses are not your 'normal' nearfields.
Mastering monitors have one function - representing clear detail of every facet of audio, throughout the entire frequency range.
Monitors range from very high end midfields, like for instance Boxers, Westlake, to hand build audiophile configurations.

Mackie has run advertisements quoting Glen Meadows uses HR824s. After all the nice things Glen said about the monitors and hearing them for myself I went out and bought a pair. Gee, I hope I didn't get suckered.

There is nothing wrong with 824's. That Pete Bardens CD on MP3 I mixed in a small studio in LA on a Mackie D8B, 4 ADATs and 824's.
They are quite sensitive to placement, but they have pretty decent compensation for various situations.

Jeez guys! I've had so many emails asking strange questions...

Let me tell you the reason I posted this.
I've got a new studio, new control room, new monitors, some new and some of my old gear. Shortly I have 6 mainstream projects to master, so I wanted to spend five to six days mastering to get my ears and mind used to the room, before I embark on projects for which clients pay thousands.
And that's all.
As far as all the other email questions:

Yes - I have done it before actually :) Quite a few times;), like years, like decades.
Yes - I do have the equipment to do it "properly"
No - You don't have to worry that, when you send me a disk and money, I will use it to flee the country. Altough, people do tend to pay for my trips to Europe and Japan to master stuff sometimes, does that count?

Sometimes.............................................. :( :) ;)   :D

Don't feel bad Sjoko, I'm sure Bob ludwig gets emails like that too! " Now...Mr. Ludwig...are you SURE you've done this before???" HAHAHAHA :) :) :) :D :D That's hilarious!!!!!!

Hey, sojko2.

I just checked out pictures of your studio. You have done a wonderful job, (it also looks really nice) :).

Congratulations

spin

Fortunately its a lot further ahead! I promosed John I'll post some more pics soon.
Thanks a lot!

Gee C7, I hope you weren't refering to me there, cos not once in my posts have I said that.

Sjoko, I have no idea who you are, (curious, yep I am), but at the end of the day, the fact that all I have ever seen you do in these forums is offer to help people, makes your identity really irrelevant.

Peace............ChrisO

Mastering

It's been a while since I last posted here. In fact, the last time I posted I was just getting started recording. But now I'm to the point where I'd like some really good mastering for my songs. I'd be happy to throw you some business. Please email me at rwilliams@english.usu.edu

I'd be looking to get it done in a couple of weeks.

Thanks,

Squashboy

Sjoko, I e-mailed you in response to your offer last week but have had no response.... I'm concerned that the e-mail address was wrong or something. So please let me know whether your incredible offer is still open.........

Thanks.

Just blaim my dementia, due to old age :)
Just send it quickly :>)

Okay! Please e-mail me with mailing information. I will be able to fed ex it (a CD) to you later this week. kolker@whafh.com

Also, do you want .wav files or .cda files?

well.......... Just thought I'd give you guys an update.
This is my second week mastering in the new place. I took some of the masters to three mastering houses in LA, to listen in different environments and to get some comments from established 'ears'. After a year hard work on the design and building of the new place, a big relief, it looks like it was worth the effort, worth not earning money for a year, even, perhaps, worth falling of the ladder when I was as stoned as a parrot from the glue fumes, and perhaps maybe, but not really, worth breaking 2 fingers really badly. Oh well, more recording, producing, mastering, and a lot less playing I suppose, as my fingers have completely ruined that, which is extremely frustrating.

Why am I rambling? Oh yeah. I've done a few homewreckers masters now. I just wanted to say that it is a pleasure. Some of it is as innovative as hell. :)

sjoko2 - Where are these cool pictures of your studio to be found? I checked out your web page from your profile, it only has your newsletter from April on it.
